Cookies and audience measurement

This page explains what the site measures, what it does not measure, and how to object.

This page reflects the audience-measurement setup currently in place; it will be updated if that setup changes.

Audience measurement

Audience measurement is active in this browser.

Your choice is remembered in this browser’s local storage (localStorage), only to retain that preference, and nowhere else. As soon as measurement is switched off, no further measurement requests are sent. The site behaves exactly the same either way.

1. Audience measurement without an analytics cookie

Mamami uses limited first-party audience measurement to understand how its website is used.

Mamami uses no analytics cookie and no persistent visitor identifier for this measurement.

The system also does not use `sessionStorage` to preserve where a visit came from.

Events are sent directly to Mamami’s infrastructure through a same-origin request.

2. What we measure

The measurement relies on a limited list of events such as:

  • pages viewed;
  • landing-page views;
  • clicks on selected calls to action;
  • referring source or domain;
  • campaign data present in the request;
  • daily traffic trends.

Values that could contain identifiers are filtered before storage.

3. What we do not do

We do not use this system to:

  • track one person from one day to the next;
  • track a person across other websites;
  • create a persistent browser identifier;
  • perform behavioural advertising;
  • link your browsing to your email address;
  • link events to your Early Supporter registration;
  • build an individual profile.

4. Estimated daily audience

To produce a daily estimate, the network address received with the request is reduced before pseudonymisation:

  • IPv4: `/24`
  • IPv6: `/48`

The resulting prefix is then transformed using HMAC-SHA-256 with a secret key and a daily component.

This fingerprint is pseudonymised data, not anonymous data.

It is not designed as a stable identifier between days.

The resulting metric is called the estimated daily audience, not “unique visitors”, because several people sharing a network may be counted together.

5. Retention

Measurement events are retained for a maximum of 400 days.

Daily pseudonyms derived from the network are retained for a maximum of 30 days.

These deletions are automated.

6. Campaign parameters

Campaign values:

  • are used only for the request that carries them;
  • are not stored in the browser to be reused later;
  • are not joined to Early Supporter data;
  • are filtered before storage.

Values resembling an email address, a URL, a UUID, a long hash or a long numeric identifier are rejected and replaced with a generic value.

7. Your choice

You can object to audience measurement at any time.

When you object, no new audience-measurement events are sent from your browser.

8. How we remember your objection

The only local storage value used specifically for this measurement is:

`mamami.analytics-optout`

It is stored only where necessary to retain your choice to disable measurement.

It is not used as a visitor identifier and is not used to measure your behaviour.

9. Security technology

The site also uses technologies necessary for its security, in particular Cloudflare Turnstile to protect the form.

These mechanisms are separate from our audience measurement.

10. If our approach changes

If Mamami later adds:

  • analytics cookies;
  • a persistent identifier;
  • an advertising tool;
  • a remarketing system;
  • cross-site measurement;
  • or any other mechanism involving access to or writing on the terminal that is subject to consent,

we will reassess the applicable obligations and put a consent mechanism in place before activation where necessary.
